A hero is one who demonstrates great bravery and courage. Someone you put unwavering faith and great trust in. One that shows up at the most perfect time to save you from harm, to rescue you.
We have all experienced challenging times in one form or another. When we are faced with them and feel lost and overwhelmed, when we’re so bogged down by life, when we’re so tired of struggling and fighting, when we’re so frustrated, we might wish that somehow someone would come and fix things, handle our problems, provide us with a perfect solution, rescue us. But that person with these great powers and resources doesn’t always come. In life there are no magic wands and no genie lamp, no super human flying in the sky or shooting spiderweb from their wrists. In real life we just have kind and generous human beings who are willing to land a hand. But these people cannot possibly help every person on the planet. So what if you fall within the group of people that doesn’t receive the help from these kind individuals? What then? Are you going to sink into the darkness of your life while waiting for that helping hand that may or may never come? Are you going to wait for a hero?
Well what if that person was you? What if the hero you wish for lived inside of you. Some of us were faced with an opportunity to act as a hero to someone else at some point. But when the person in need is our own self can we be that for ourselves? Can you show bravery in the face of adversity, courage in the face of fear? Can you trust that you will find a way and have faith that everything will work out in the perfect timing?
When hopelessness finds its way in our lives, it’s sometimes difficult to come out of it. We might feel that we don’t have the answers or means to come out of a bad situation, we don’t have the right resources but what I believe we often forget is that we are so much stronger, courageous and resourceful than we realize. So when you find yourself in a bad situation, instead of wishing and hoping for someone to come to pull you out, remember your strength, courage, and resourcefulness. Remember you can be to yourself that that you wish others to be to you. Remember you can survive. Remember you can thrive. Remember you can be your own hero and you can save yourself.
