We spend much of our time in front of the TV, online, hanging out with
friends, working, shopping, texting, updating facebook statuses among other things. Some of which are essential to our life as human beings but what if we replaced a few of them with
productive action geared towards achieving our goals? What could we accomplish
by dedicating some of our time each day to the things we want to create?
As this new year starts, many of us have made New Year’s
resolutions. We set intentions, goals and action plans for the new year. We’re
excited by the idea of new beginnings and the possibilities to come and we are filled with hope. But as the days, the weeks and the months go by, we get bogged
down by life, lose our excitement, and maybe even lose faith. Hope might get
replaced by fear or we may simply forget all the great things we set out to do
in the beginning of the year. And before we know it, the next year is around
the corner and we get ready to make another set of resolutions, which includes
some of the things that never got crossed off the previous year’s list.
There are people who accomplish a great deal in their life and
we sometimes look at their accomplishments and wonder how they did it. We might
think that they are lucky. But I think that if we looked into these people’s lives we would notice a pattern of consistent action steps taken that led them to
achieve all that they did.
You might not be able to accomplish all that you want in an
hour. But you can certainly use that hour to take small steps to get you there.
But if you found that one hour wasn’t enough, would you think that 2 hours would suffice? Would 10 hours? How many hours would be enough for you to
take the necessary steps to get you to where you want to be? If you had 8784
hours to achieve some of your goals, would you think it to be possible? The
person whose accomplishments you admire and yourself are given the same amount of
hours each day. It's all a matter of how you use your hours. Will you spend
them in front of the TV, procrastinating, complaining or being generally
unproductive or will you spend them taking consistent action towards your
goals? A lot can happen in an hour and if we live to see the next year we would have been given not one but 8784 hours
this year to make up our mind, to make a decision, to take action, to laugh, to
live, to hope, to be, to create the things we are most passionate about, to
fulfill our goals. How are you going to spend these hours? Would they be enough
time? We have 8784 hours before New Year comes around again. What will you make
happen?
